Kathmandu, Feb 15: A 14-member national women’s cricket team has been announced to play in Asian qualifying tournament for the ICC women’s Twenty20 Cricket Word Cup.

The qualifying tournament is being held in Thailand from February 16 to 27. The team is led by Rubeena Chettri and including Sita Ranamagar, Sarita Magar, Neri Thapa, Indu Verma, Sonu Khadka, Arati Bidari, Kajal Shrestha, Roma Thapa, Kabita Kunwar, Apsara Begum, Mamata Kumari Chaudhary and Bindu Rawal.

The reserve bench includes Ritu Kumari Kanaujiya, Suman Bista, Anjali Chand and Doli Bhatta. Binod Das is the head coach while Nira Rajopadhya is the assistant coach.  Nepal will play its first match against Malaysia on February 19. A total of seven countries are taking part in the competition with the winner qualifying for the world cup. The Nepali team is leaving for Thailand tomorrow.(RSS)
