Vice President’s Election: Vice President hopeful Jha pledges to establish women’s rights


Kathmandu, March 17: Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party who is one of the contenders for ongoing Vice President election today, vowed to establish women rights if she is elected to the post. Interacting with the journalists after casting her ballot at Federal Parliament building at New Baneshwor in Kathmandu today, Jha urged the parliamentarians taking part in the ongoing election to give their votes to women. The voting under the election kicked off since 10:00 am today and it will run through 3:00 pm today.

 

Among the Federal Parliament members, 150 of 332 members had voted as of 11:00 am while 286 of 550 votes were cast from the Province Assembly members during the same period. There are two polling centres in the Lhotse Hall of the federal parliament building, one each for Federal Parliament members and Province Assembly members. Janamat Party’s Mamata Jha, Janata Samajbadi Party’s Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav and CPN (UML)’s Asta Laxmi Shakya (Bohara) are in the fray for the second highest post in the country.
